In 2012, SAP launched the SAP Social Sabbatical program with Pyxera as partner orgnization. This program created by SAP Corporate Social Responsibility aims at helping and supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses in emerging markets. The 2015/16 installation of the Social Sabbatical brings 120 SAP colleagues in teams of 12 persons each to 10 different locations, amongst them three countries in Africa, four countries in Asia and three countries in Latin America.
The application for this program started as far back as in April 2015. In July, I gladly received the confirmation that my application was accepted, and I was assigned to the team heading for Buenos Aires, Argentina, during April 2016. Our team of twelve people brings together colleagues from the SAP locations in Australia, Germany, India, Italy, Singapore and the USA.
Our first task as a team was to find ourselves a team name and mission statement (engl. "touching lives"):
